LOST Fan Fiction Awards

The nominations are in! Hurrah for everyone who took the time to go back over a year's worth of fic and nominate their favorites! It really was an amazing year for fic. Let's raise a glass not only to the nominees, but to everyone who wrote Lost fic this year, whether it's diehard veterans who are still going strong or newbies to the fandom who wrote their very first Lost fic! You all make the fandom what it is! :)

Votes will be due January 6. Comments are screened. HAPPY HOLIDAYS and only 30 days until the return of Lost!!

Woo! Most of you voted to devote December to honoring the great fic of 2008, rather than just the months of November & December. So, here goes: You have until Dec. 20th to nominate and voting will extend until the early part of January to allow for the holidays.

There is no RPS category this year as there just isn't enough Lost RPS being written anymore to make that viable, alas!

THE BEST DAMN FICS OF 2008

Here's the rules:
1. Fics must have been posted (on LJ or elsewhere) in 2008. Fics written prior to 2008 are not eligible.
2. Fics that have previously won Lost Fic Awards are eligible to be nominated again -- and in any appropriate category, not just the category they may have won in.
3. These categories are all any pairing, any rating, for the most part.

Thanks to everyone who has already nominated for the July Fic Awards! If there are fics you'd like to nominate, please get them in by the end of day Friday, August 1. Thank you! There have been so many great fics written lately, I know it will be hard (if not impossible) to choose, but there's always next month as well if you can't fit in all your favorites this time. The Special Category this month is FAVORITE LUAU FIC (covering the first part of the lostsquee luau), although luau and non-luau fics are eligible in all other categories.

I don't know if there's enough naughty fic in our fandom to fill both Het and Slash NC-17 categories as well as its own separate category, but remember, older fics can always be nominated!

ROTATING CATEGORIES
BEST OT3 FIC -- A fic that explores the romantic relationship between three (or more) characters. Any rating.

BEST DRABBLE -- Best fic that is (approximately) 100 words. Single, double and triple drabbles can be nominated, but the total fic cannot be more than 300 words. Any pairing, any genre, any rating.

SPECIAL CATEGORY (MOD'S CHOICE) -- For this month, there two special categories: PURE FLUFF and NAUGHTY FLUFF.
-- PURE FLUFF fics should be rated G-PG, and involve any kind of fluff that's well, nearly 100 percent pure, involving romance, hearts and flowers, fuzzy puppies, adorable kittens, cooing babies, et cetera. Any pairing (or no pairing) is fine.
-- NAUGHTY FLUFF fics (PG- NC-17) are for a different kind of pure: Pure porn! That is, porn that is still sweet and may involve cuddling, spooning, and I-Love-You's while also getting down and dirty.

Nominations are now open for the November Fic Awards. Please comment here with your picks. Comments are screened. NOMINATIONS ARE DUE NOVEMBER 16. The special category this month is SPOOKIEST FIC.

Based on the results of this week's poll, the following changes have gone into effect:

-- "Best Future Fic" will go into rotation and no longer be a regular category each month. Future fics can still be nominated in any other category (Best Gen Fic, Best Het Fic, Best OT3 fic, etc.) that seems appropriate, or you can save them until the next round.
-- Individual fics that have won an award can be nominated again if they are part of a series. This is intended to apply to fics that have become a series through the adding of sequels or prequels, not to a fic that is planned as a series (i.e., "Part 1, Part 2").
-- The majority of you opted to keep the rotating fic schedule and it's much easier, on this end, not to have to stockpile nominations from one month to the next if there aren't enough to make a viable category. This is open to change down the road, of course. Always a work in progress, here! :)

SPECIAL CATEGORY (MOD'S CHOICE) -- For this month, the special category is FICS INSPIRED BY SONGS. The song should be either mentioned in the author's notes or featured fairly prominently in the fic. Fics that are merely named after song titles are not necessarily the best choice to be nominated, if that is the only connection to the song. This category is any genre, any rating.
